Brahmatal is a lake that is found deep within the Himalayan region, amidst the mighty mountain ranges and natural flora and fauna of Garhwal. The Brahmatal Altitude ascends to 12,150 ft. A sight to behold in all its snowclad glory, Brahmatal Trek in winters is one of the few most beautiful treks in winter, throughout the world. Brahmatal is a treasure house of mythological tales. Brahmatal Lake itself receives its name from one of these stories according to which Lord Brahma meditated at this location. The base camp of Brahmatal trek – Lohagunj, is a tiny Himalayan village that is rich in culture and such mythological tales. It is a delight to interact with the local people of Lohagunj and listen to ancient tales that are native to the Brahmatal Lake.The Brahmatal temperature in winter is pretty cold but suits trekking. Itinerary
Distance covered: 260 km Drive
The journey for Brahmatal trek sets into motion from Rishikesh, and therefore you arrive at the pickup point early morning. You shall be picked up from there and once all the enthusiastic trekkers have gathered, we shall leave for Lohagunj. Lohajung is 260 KM away from Rishikesh and it shall be a 9-hour drive. On our way to Lohajung we shall cross many Kumaon villages. You will witness terraced farming of crops like potatoes, rice, local millets, and rajma.
Lohajung is located in the Chamoli district of Uttrakhand. On our way, we shall witness the Karnaprayag and Rudraprayag. We will arrive at Lohagunj in the late afternoon. Lohajung offers itself as a small market place for the nearby towns of Culing, Mundoli, and Wan. During dinner time, the trek leader briefs us about what the course of the journey shall be for the next day. After this, we can tuck ourselves in our cozy beds to rest and prepare for the exciting journey which shall follow.
Distance covered: 8 Km Trek
We will wake up and prepare ourselves to finally begin our much-awaited exciting experience. The Brahmatal Trek shall commence after a healthy breakfast. Ensure that you have packed well and are carrying water, energy bars, and other essentials that might come in handy during the trek.
We shall leave the villages behind and trek towards the oak and fir forests. You will experience the most mesmerizing view as you walk on the trail amidst rhododendrons which are heavily laden with red flowers in the months between February and April. You shall witness the towering Nandaghunti Peak.
The first segment of the Brahmatal Trek shall conclude in 4-5 hours as we reach our base camp at the magnificent Bekaltal Lake. Here, we will finally set up our tents for the night and experience the fun of lakeside camping. You shall have ample time to indulge in fun activities and with fresh snow around; go ahead make that snowman and play snow-ball fighting to your heart’s delight. Shutterbugs can get the most exotic shots of the frozen lake and oak forests and nature lovers are in for the time of their lives. Dinner and Overnight stat ay Tents.

Today is the day to trek to Brahmatal Lake where Lord Brahma meditated many years ago. It takes about 5-6 hours to reach Brahmatal from Bekaltal Campsite. The trail starts steeply into the Oak and Rhododendron forest which leads to the meadow of Telandi top. In the winter, you will see the meadow of Telandi turns into a vast snowfield and crossing the area, a gala of thrills. From here, it is a very gradual descent to Brahmatal. Enjoy some scintillating views of the mighty Himalayas from here and then proceed further to Brahmatal or Khabekhal Lake to be precise. After a great day, spend the night in camp.

Today is the most visually mesmerizing day of the entire Brahmatal trek. Get up comfortably by 07:00 AM, have breakfast and get ready to climb to the top of Brahmatal. The trek to the top of Brahmatal requires around 2½ hours of steep climb. Along the way, it would be all ascents. We would pass through some treacherous trails at Chota Jhandidar and Bada Jhandidar. The trail goes through a mountain ridge with valleys on both sides and provides majestic views of Mt. Trishul and Nanda Ghunti. At the top, you would see a 180° view of exclusive snow covered Himalayan Ranges. Today you would be leaving this pristine lap of Mother Nature. After having breakfast, start walking to Lohajung from Brahmatal followed by some steep descending trail. It takes 6-7 hours to trek down to Lohajung through thick oak and rhododendron forests once again. You will reach Lohajung in the afternoon. This day could be used to rest as well as playing cricket, Volleyball or any other outdoor games at our Maujkaro Camps and at the end of the day, you can explore the small town and hear the mythological stories by the locals and immerse in their culture. Stay in the Maujkaro Camps.
Depart from Lohajung to Dehradun /Rishikesh Kathgodam Railway Station early in the morning, preferably before 06:30 AM since the journey takes 10-11 hours. Expected to reach Kathgodam by 07:00 PM. Transport will be arranged at an additional cost from.

We visited Coorg from 16 to 19 June 2025 with our infant. Our pickup was from Bangalore airport , we were a bit worried as the journey from Bangalore to Coorg was of 5:30 - 6 hours and our daughter was with us, but everything went well with a 7 seater car and a good driver to accompany us provided by Cloud runners. We choose Hill crest resort- 2 deluxe cottages. Amenities mentioned in brochure of hotel rooms were not assembled before but provided when asked. Insects in the rooms were expected bcz of Coorg weather but hotel staff took care of it when informed. Overall our trip was smooth and relaxing though travelling with our 4 months lo, credit goes to the Cloud runners, u guys r doing a great job.

I visited valley of flowers and hemkund sahib trek in August 2021 with cloud runners, the entire trip was organised very well, the bus driver was veryy veryyy sweet and friendly which made our trip peaceful. The Weather in uttarakhand has been very unpredictable in Uttrakhand, although the team especially abhijeet was giving updates regularly about the weather and situation. That was very helpful.
